The aroma of the Hualien 1998 is sweet and soothing. On the palate, it is smooth, slightly dense, and medium-bodied with delicious flavors like currants, honey, and sandalwood. The aftertaste is satisfying.
 
This brick has been ageing so slowly under natural storage condition because of its tightly compressed body. It is expected to take another 15-20 years to finish the second phase of development.
